AJM Transport is a family-owned and operated national transport and logistics company specialising in express linehaul freight with branches in Newcastle, Brisbane, and Melbourne. Our head office and main workshop is in Beresfield, where we maintain a fleet of 90 prime movers and 250+ trailers, forklifts, and company vehicles.
About the role:
We are seeking an experienced Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our team in our Beresfield workshop. You can work in our modern workshop, which is equipped with the latest technology, and work on some of the best equipment the industry has to offer. Our team ofheavy vehicle mechanics a. The ideal candidate will be trade qualified and have several years post trade experience. Experience with Kenworth, Volvo and Cummins powered vehicles would be an advantage.
Responsibilities and activities:
- Liaise with the National Fleet Manager and Operations teams
- Diagnose faults on trucks and trailers
- Electrical and EBS diagnostics
- Carry out service, maintenance and repair work on vehicles and trailers
- Check own work to ensure it is carried out to the OEM’s requirements
- Servicing the fleet in accordance with the scheduled maintenance program
- Maintaining a safe, organised workshop and work area
- Rotating shifts

To be considered for this role, you must:
- Have a relevant trade qualification
- HR, HC, and Forklift licence would be advantageous
- Have fleet maintenance experience
- Possess high-level technical ability, skill, and knowledge
- Be able to diagnose and rectify mechanical problems accurately & efficiently
- Be able to work unsupervised and to a high standard
- Prioritise workload to meet tight freight deadlines
- Be trustworthy, hard-working and take pride in your work
- Have excellent communication skills and a positive, proactive attitude
- Be available to work overtime/after hours on breakdowns when required
- Have a strong commitment and understanding of Work, Health, and Safety requirements.
